When something bad happens in your life, that is usually when it is hardest to find confidence. 

If you get let go from an organization you dedicated years at, you are living with a genetic disorder, or a personal relationship is falling apart… With so many things to worry and feel good about, taking care of yourself is the last thing on your mind. But it shouldn’t be.

If your health permits, get some fresh air and exercise. Go for a walk – it can boost your mood and make you feel more confident. Being physically active will boost your endorphins, or happy hormones, and will help you walk with your head held a little higher.

Volunteer or Give Back. Helping others makes you feel better about yourself. Confidence has nothing to do with looks and everything to do with feeling good about who you are.

Go shopping. Sure, it’s cliché, but looking good in the mirror or out even if it is to the grocery store can make you feel better about yourself. 

If you can’t afford a nice new outfit, wear one you already have. Nothing beats new clothes, except an old favorite. The next time you have to run errands wear something which makes you feel beautiful. Choose a dress that you haven’t worn in a while or a piece of jewelry or scarf to dress up what you are wearing. You’ll feel more confident knowing that you look great and didn’t spend a penny.

Have a spa day. Go get your hair and nails done, get a facial, massage, or if money is tight treat yourself to an unplugged day with no outside distractions from your digital devices. Whatever you choose, pampering yourself is a great way to find your confidence.

These simple additions to your life could make the difference between a really hard day and one which makes you feel more confident than you have been in weeks, months or years. You deserve it!
